Africa reposition itself in the global oil market-report.

18 July 2025
A recent World Oil Outlook indicates that the African continent is in transition to leverage its natural resources to meet domestic demand, expand refining capacity and strengthen regional energy security
The outlook by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries an organization that brings together leading oil-producing and oil-dependent countries notes that Africa is repositioning itself in the global oil market — not merely as a supplier to international markets, but as a rising energy consumer and industrial growth hub.
It notes that these shifts signal a maturing energy profile.
OPEC projects that Africa’s total crude and condensate exports will remain stable at around 5.2 million barrels per day (bpd) through 2035, thanks to modest increases in production.

Judiciary cowardice to blame for failed democracy.

16 July 2025
The opposition National Unity Platform party leader Robert Kyagulanyi says the Ugandan judiciary has partly contributed to the sliding back of democracy in Uganda by engaging in what he terms as judicial cowardice evidenced by the reluctance to annul presidential elections.
Kyagulanyi says that in almost all presidential election petitions challenging the election of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the judiciary through the Supreme Court has ignored evidence adduced and relied on the substantiality clause which he says is unwarranted.
He argues that as the Supreme Court in the land, the Supreme Court should be solid enough to evaluate the evidence placed before it and accept that any form of rigging or irregularities however minor aims at altering the outcomes of the election.
Kyagulanyi has been the keynote speaker at the Weekly Uganda Law Society discourse.
Kyagulanyi has urged lawyers through their Society to ensure that such a situation does not continue to prevail in the country.
