Uganda’s dependency burden to worsen- experts

Uganda Joins the rest of the world today to celebrate , the world population day with experts saying the country’s dependency burden is expected to worsen as a result of a predominant youth population.

According to the 2014 national census , 55.1% of the 34 million Ugandans are youth below the age of 18 and thus dependants

Charles Zirarema, the Acting Director National Population Council Secretariat says this poses a threat to the working age group that is outnumbered by dependants.

Zirarema advises families to have a manageable number of children
