Ugandans want agric, health & educ given biggest budgetary allocation

The feedback generated from a Budget call centre set up by the Forum for Women in Democracy indicates that Ugandans want the Agriculture, Health and Education sector to receive the largest share in the 2018 /2019 national budget.

The call centre was set up last week using a toll free number which people have been calling to air out their views on the priorities they want in the national budget

This is part of the efforts by civil society to promote participatory budgeting as consultations on the 2018/2019 national budget begin. The executive Director at the Forum for Women in Democracy says that they want to see a gender sensitive budget and that the views expressed so far by Ugandans are encouraging.

Munabi also says that through this budget call centre, they have been able to gauge the public perception about service delivery in the country with many Ugandans expressing concern about the deterioration in the health and education sector.
