Uganda on track in prevention of tropical diseases

Uganda makes 80% progress in prevention and elimination of tropical diseases like River blindness, Bilharzia and Trachoma among others.

The diseases are said to have been transmitted by people mainly from Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan as they flee fighting in their homeland

Statistics at the ministry of health indicate that transmission of river blindness has been stopped in 16 districts, transmission of Trachoma has been stopped in 27 district out of the 37 most affected districts

World Health Organisation Country Representative Dr. Abdoulie Dodou calls for joint efforts if elimination of cross border transmission is to be attained
