Uganda commemorates World Malaria day

Uganda joins the rest of the world today (25 April 2014) to mark the World Malaria day which runs under the theme “Small Bite, Big threat”.

The ministry of health spokesperson Rukia Nakamatte says government will also jointly mark the world health day.

Nakamatte says great strides have been attained in controlling malaria noting that government is currently finalizing the national malaria reduction strategy that will rapidly scale up cost effective interventions.

These will include expanding indoor residual spraying from the current 12 to 50 districts in a space of three years to drastically reduce the burden of malaria.
