Typhoid cases now reported to be 513

The Ministry of Health reports more cases of Typhoid in Kampala city and parts of the neighboring districts of Wakiso and Mukono following an outbreak of the disease last month.

A total of 513 cases have been identified and Kisenyi Health Center IV which is the designated treatment center has so far treated 403 of the 513 cases.

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Asuman Lukwago says Investigations are still ongoing, and that together with KCCA they have mounted an aggressive response against the disease.

He adds Kampala Capital City Authority and Ministry of Health officials have engaged food vendors and juice sellers sensitizing them on better hygiene practices to prevent further spread of the disease.

Lukwago e says the Ministry of Health continues to offer treatment and follow up to all those affected and infected by the disease
