Traders want some URA staff investigated for corruption

Traders under the Uganda Researchers and Allied Workers Union ask the IGG to conduct investigations into the alleged corruption and abuse of office by some URA officers.

National Organizing Secretary Uganda Researchers and Allied Workers Hirome Sabbehe says that he was contacted by a group of traders    who were denied licenses by Uganda Revenue Authority to engage in clearing and forwarding.

He adds that according to their research the licenses are not offered on merit adding that in some instances traders have to bribe the URA officials to get the licenses.

Manager public and corporate Affairs URA Ian Rumanyika dismisses the claims adding that only qualified people are licensed to do clearing and forwarding.

He however asks them to file their complaints with URA for Investigation.
