Suspicions strain Uganda/Sudan relations – Amama

Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi says relations between Uganda and Sudan have remained strained over mutual suspicions of supporting rebellions in either country.
Mbabazi’s remarks come on the heels of a resurgence of a diplomatic row between Uganda and Sudan, in which Khartoum recalled its ambassador Hussein Awad Ali from Kampala for undisclosed reasons.
Mbabazi admits that Awad Ali’s recall could have been prompted by Sudan’s allegations that Uganda supports rebels fighting to overthrow the Omar Al-Bashir’s government.
Although Mbabazi denies Uganda supports rebellion against government in Khartoum, he warns that Uganda will not normalize relations with Sudan until Sudan renounces support for the LRA.
