Slow down popn growth to attain middle income status- Dev’t partners

Development partners note that for Uganda to attain the much desired middle income status by 2020, it  has to slow down population growth by particularly adopting the family planning agenda.

The ambassador of Royal kingdom of Netherlands in Uganda Alphons Hennekens says with a manageable population the country will be able to avail its citizens with the required health and other social services

Hennekens says family planning and the use of contraceptives will reduce unsafe abortions , maternal mortality and give a woman ability to make decisions about her reproductive right

Officiating during dissemination meeting for findings of a study into the impact of the Linkup project in the country, Hennekens called for political will and engagement in slowing down population growth.

For his part, the Executive Director Community Health Alliance Uganda Bharam Namanya said during the three years of the 12 billion shillings project majority of young people have gotten access to HIV services in the 13 districts they have been operating.
