Sejusa aides sentenced to 15 yrs in jail

Six former aides to Gen David Sejusa recently convicted for treachery and offences relating to security are sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each.

The General Court Martial in Makindye Division early this month convicted  corporal Grace Nasasira, corporal Godfrey Karuhanga, Frank Ninsiima, Moses Nuwagaba, Abel Twinamatsiko and James Nayebare.

This after prosecution proved that the six between April and May 2013 engaged in  war like activities and recruited fellow soldiers from the Special command unit  with an intention to over throw the government.

The panel of seven members Chaired by Lt.Gen Andrew  Gutti based on the evidence 7  prosecution witnesses that the six men  conducted  meetings at Sekanyonyi trading centre in Mityana,  with a task to recruit  fellow soldiers  allegedly on   instructions of Gen. David Sejusa and Gen. Benon Biraaro.

Evidence also proved that the recruited   forces were to contrive a plot to overthrow Government since they had gathered intelligence information that president Museveni had plans to have his succeed him as president.

While convicting them Gen Gutti faulted the accused for withholding  such vital information from the authorities .

He ruled that the offence they committed is a serious one and a threat to national security.
