Second batch of ballot papers arrives

The second batch of ballot papers to be used in the forthcoming General Elections has arrived in the country this afternoon aboard Emirates Airline.

Commission Chairperson Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu says the consignment contains ballot papers of District Chairpersons and other categories, noting that the earlier consignment that arrived last week consisted over 15 million ballots.

Kiggundu also dismisses as baseless claims on social media that the plane that brought the first consignment for Presidential Ballots from South Africa last week first made a stopover in Rwanda where some ballots were offloaded for purposes of rigging.

Addressing the media in Kampala, Kiggundu said the commission will conduct another public demonstration of the Biometric Voter verification system in all districts this Saturday following the earlier one conducted last Saturday.

He says the aim is to give opportunity to more stakeholders to learn more about the operations of the system.
