Red pepper editors charged with seven counts

Eight Staff of the Red pepper Publication including its Directors have been charged  before  Buganda Road Court with 7 counts that include  publication of information prejudicial to security,  libel,  and offensive communication. 

They appeared before Chief Magistrate James Eremye Mawanda and denied the charges.

Prosecution alleges that red pepper reportedly published a story on 20th November indicating that President Museveni allegedly intends to over throw his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame
The story also implicated General Salim Saleh and Security Minister Lt Gen Henery Tumukunde.

They have now been remanded till 5/December/2017 when Prosecution will respond to their bail application after verifying the documents presented by their sureties
