KCCA warns that all butcheries and abattoirs in the city that have failed to comply with the set guidelines face closure as the authority ensures that hygienic meat is sold to members of the public.
The Head of KCCA’s veterinary department Dr Emilian Ahimbisibwe tells Radio One that a crackdown on all abattoirs and city butchers is to be conducted starting today noting that those butcheries that donot conform to the minimum standards face closure.
Ahimbisibwe says they want these service providers to operate under hygienic conditions and provide wholesome meat to the public.
He says close to 50 butcheries have been confirmed to be registered in Kampala noting that more sensitization campaigns will be conducted.
