Ex-Principal Accountant in prime Minister’s Office, Geoffrey Kazinda and 3 others accused of embezzlement of over 300 million shillings meant for fuel procurement, have reported back to the Anti-corruption court, to honor of the bail granted to them early this month.
On the 8th month the accused faced abuse of office, embezzlement, forgery and conspiracy charges before grade one magistrate Emmanuel Baguma, before whom they denied to all the 29 counts that were read to them and were each released on a cash bail and ordered to report back today.
However state Attorney Robert Mackay informed the court that investigations into their case is still on-going and asked for an extension of their bail until 25th Sept.
He alleges that Kazinda, John Martin Owor and Beatrice Kezaabu conspired with Hussein Katumwa, the station manager of Total Ntinda service station, to steal 316.8 million shillings between 2010 and 2011 from the prime minister’s office.
The money was allegedly meant for the procurement of fuel and lubricants for motor vehicles delivering relief food from central relief stores to victims affected by disaster in various districts.
