Muhakanizi warns against cancelling certificates of properties for departed Indians

The Permanent Secretary ministry of finance Keith Muhakanizi has warned against cancelling certificates of properties repossessed by Indians and cautioned all ministers who seat on the Departed Asian Property Custodian Board about the matter

Muhakanizi stresses that it had been agreed in an earlier meeting that a repossession certificate for properties can only be canceled by the relevant courts of law

Muhakanizi’s directive comes after the Land Probe chaired by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire grilled Lands Minister Betty Amongi for reportedly using a company Amobet Investments Limited she co-owns with her sister Adongo Keti to acquire temporary possession of four lucrative government properties in Kampala after they were repossessed by an Asian family in 1992.
