Motion to approve 23 districts collapses

The motion for creation of 23 new districts collapsed after parliament failed to raise the quorum to vote and approve them

Out of the 189 MPs that were required to approve the motion. Only 159 Mps were in attendance

Meanwhile, a certificate of financial implication from the ministry of finance indicates that government will be able to finance four districts.

Leader of opposition Wafula Oguttu says approving new districts without the certificate of financial implication would be a fatal mistake while opposition chief whip says any future demands to approve new districts should be rejected
