Mobile Money dealers want 0.5% completely scrapped

Mobile money dealers implore government to scrap the 0.5% taxation on mobile money transactions to help them stay in business.

This while appearing before the finance committee of parliament to give their views on the excise duty amendment bill

The spokesperson Kampala mobile money dealers association Ben Kamyuka informed the committee chaired by Henry Musasizi that they are already paying tax on mobile money through the 15 percent on excise duty and 10 percent on withholding tax adding that there is no need to tax customers.

Kamyuka also says that the tax is discriminatory on mobile money users.
