Lukwago seeks one billion compensation from govt

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago drags government to High court seeking recovery of one Billion Shillings for the violent arrests and illegal detentions in various Police cells he has been subjected to since 2013.

Through his own law firm, Lukwago argues that since 18th/Nov/2013, police have brutally arrested and detained him in various police stations with no specific charges and later releasing him in wee hours of the night.

He cites the July 2014 case in which he was accused together with Dr. Kiiza Besigye of being a member of unlawful society but was withdrawn by the DPP.

He contends that the continued several arrests and confinements amount to violation of his rights and freedoms, have injured him physically, psychologically as well as damaged his reputation.
