Leaders in Tororo agree to widely consult on the split of the district

Political leaders from Tororo district have agreed to carry out wider consultations next week about the proposal to split up the district to create two more.

On Wednesday, Tororo County Mp Geoffrey Ekanya threatened to strangle himself on the floor of the house using his necktie—- after local Government minister Adolf Mwesige announced that Tororo would not be split up

Following a meeting held earlier yesterday, the leaders decided to consult residents of the district and to also address the main issues behind the wrangles including disagreement over boundaries and Tororo municipality

Tororo district woman Mp Sarah Opendi has been tasked to head the consultations

She says they intend to report back to cabinet as soon as possible but stresses the need to deal with the boundary wrangles
