Kwoyelo’s trial postponed

The trial of former LRA commandant Thomas Kwoyelo which had been scheduled  to kick off today before  Gulu High court,  is postponed to mid – next month due to lack of adequate funds to facilitate the conduct of this case.

According to the Registrar at the International Crimes Division of the High court based in Kampal, Ssali Harriet Nalukwagi, the government has not yet released funds for Kwoyelo’s  special criminal session that is to sit at Gulu High court.

Kwoyelo was to appear before a panel of 3 Judges led by Justice  Moses Mukiibi to answer  charges of murder,  rape, defilement, recruitment of children as soldiers and destruction of crops and property on top of committing other atrocities against humanity.

Prosecution says the above charges arise from the 20 year old political unrest in the  Northern Uganda.
