JEEMA president denies influencing party’s EC

Opposition’s JEEMA Party president Asuman Basalirwa distances himself from claims indicating that he is authoritative of his party’s electoral commission thus influencing all its activities in his favour.

The allegations were raised across different media platforms by Basalirwa’s Rivals many of whom picked nominations forms to stand against him as flag bearers but later failed to return the forms.

Speaking in an interview, Basalirwa said that he cannot influence an electoral commission that was established independently by the party delegates’ conference way back before his first term as president.

Basalirwa also denied claims that he wants to influence Sole candidature in JEEMA following his recent re-election as the newly un-opposed party president for another time.

He argues that his counterparts should come out and give reasons why they failed to return nomination forms after picking them.
