Investigate death of suspect in detention

Lawyers representing suspected Kabamba barracks attackers have asked the general court martial in Makindye to order an investigation into the death of a soldier who was one of the suspects in detention.

Prosecution alleges that between February and May 2014 the over 10 suspects both soldiers and civilians attacked the armored warfare barracks in Mubende district.

However, the suspects allege that Capt. John Bosco Lutwama one of the suspects died while on remand in Makindye military police prison.

Lawyers representing the suspects Abdallah Kiwanuka and Jude Mbabali informed the chairman of the court Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga that they had been denied access to the detention facility at Makindye barracks and a postmortem report.

However prosecution denied any wrong doing clarifying that the deceased army officer died in the military hospital at Bombo and promised to avail a medical report.

The case will be up for hearing on November 4th
