Invest more in senior citizen grant-Cardinal Wamala

His eminence cardinal Emmanuel Wamala asks government to invest more in the senior citizen’s grant to enable all older persons in the country aged 65 and above get a monthly allowance to cater for their needs.

Government is currently implementing the program in only 15 selected districts with older persons there getting a monthly allowance of 25,000/=

Speaking during a dialogue for religious and cultural leaders on the senior citizens grant , Cardinal Wamala says a number of people have left villages for urban center’s leaving the older persons behind to look after themselves yet most of them donot have the energy to engage in productive work like agriculture.

He says most of the older persons are looking after orphans who lost their parents and need support
