Intern doctors vote to lay down their tools

Intern doctors across government facilities vote to lay down their tools and withdraw emergency services in response to threats from the ministry of health to have them suspended.

Last week, health minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, and the permanent secretary Dr Diana Atwine directed Resident District Commissioners to make daily reports about attendance and pointed out that interns who will not be at health facilities will be discontinued and advised to re-apply

This development prompted a debate and vote among interns with the majority resolving that they should all stay away from health facilities.

Aaron Nahabwe the publicity secretary of the Interns, says they will  also withdraw emergency services they had agreed to continue provide during the period doctors are under strike.
