A report into Uganda’s land sector indicates that there is a total breakdown of institutions of land characterized with injustice and impunity particularly by the highly connected public officials.

The report authored by Makerere University’s Human Rights & Peace Centre provides an overview on land governance in the northern, central and western region and analysis of the legal regime governing land in Uganda.

The report notes that there is inadequate oversight and protective mechanism by several land institutions tasked with resolving land matters

Presenting the report findings during a dialogue at Hotel Africana Dr. Zahara Nampeewo , the Executive Director  Human Rights & Peace Centre said there is need for government to comprehensively pursue land reform measures which are equitable, rational and sustainable.
