Govt to save close to a trillion from merger of agencies

Government says it will save 900 billion shillings after merging some agencies, as it dispels fears that some people will remain unemployed.

The restructuring follows a report by the ministry of public service to cabinet which discussed the proposals before they were approved.

ICT, Information and National Guidance Minister Frank Tumwebaze tells Journalists at the media centre Cabinet the merging of the agencies and departments will deal with duplication and eliminate wasteful expenditure and salary disparities.

He also says agencies that are self reliant and those that are involved in business and technical training will not be affected by the changes
