Govt starts registering exporters of fruits & vegetables

Government embarks on the registration of all  traders exporting fresh fruits and vegetables to Europe with the intention of streamlining the business.

This after government announced a self imposed ban on export of fresh fruits and vegetable to European markets in response to numerous notifications of noncompliance to EU standards by many of Uganda’s exporters.

Trade minister Amelia Kyambadde says in order to maintain standards only exporters verified will be allowed to export.

Kyambadde adds government will monitor them to ensure quality and confirms that after three weeks the ban will be lifted.
