Govt seeks to have Besigye tried in Luzira Prison

The state files an application before Nakawa magistrates court seeking to have the Treason case against Dr Kiiza Besigye’s heard in Luzira prison citing security reasons.

Besigye was expected in court this morning on account of an order made by the magistrates court but was not brought in, with State Prosecutor Lino Anguzu tendering in an application seeking to transfer the case hearing to Luzira prison.

This led to protests from FDC and other opposition members who had camped at court prompting the magistrate James Eremye Mawanda to adjourn prematurely although he indicated that he would decide on the application on the 15th of this month

FDC activists resort to holding prayers in the court room at Nakawa saying an interim court order that was issued against such had expired.
