Govt declines banning externalization of labour

Government declines to impose a ban on the externalization of Labour as requested by Mukono municipality member of parliament Betty Nambooze Bakireke over mistreatment and exploitation.

In a statement to parliament, The minister of state for Gender and culture, Peace Mutuuzo says that the ban would cause the country to lose 600 million dollars which accounts for about 50 percent of total in-word remittances in Uganda.

She reports that now there are 169 labour companies exporting labour  which is a reduction from 178 after some were de-registered due reasons which include engaging in trafficking of migrant workers and failure to externalize workers after charging them placement fees
