Govt bans exportation of hot pepper

Ministry of trade, industry and cooperatives together with the ministry of Agriculture issue a one month ban on exportation of hot pepper to address issues surrounding an impending ban on some of Uganda’s exports to the European union.

This after the European Union threatened to ban some of our exports including flowers, hot pepper and other agricultural produce which possess harmful organisms.

While meeting  exporters at the Uganda Industrial Research Institute Trade Minister Amelia Kyambadde said that   they have also put in place new measures for other fresh produce to ensure that they are not banned

Amelia says that during the one month period they will be undertaking inspection of all farms, planting materials and training of farmers to ensure quality.
