Five terror suspects acquitted still in police custody

Police says that the five terror suspects who were acquitted of terrorism charges are still in police custody in order to protect them from people who may be un pleased with their acquittal.

Five of the eight suspects including Omar Awadi Omar, Mohammed Ali Suleiman, Abubaker Batemyetto , Dr. Ismail Kalule and Yahaya Suleiman Mbuthia were on Thursday acquitted on grounds that evidence does not show their involvement in both planning and execution of the attacks.

However the defense lead council Caleb Alaka protested their detention on grounds that have no other pending charges thus undermining the independence of the judiciary which had ordered that they be released.
