Five police officers tried for beating Besigye’s supporters

The police disciplinary court release on bond 5 junior police officers and a crime preventer officers for allegedly beating up Dr Kiiza Besigye’s supporters last week.

The accused appeared before the chairman Senior Commissioner of Police Denis Odongpiny at the forensic laboratory at police headquarters in Naguru this afternoon.

The prosecution led by the senior superintendent of police Catherine Semerirwa told court that four of the suspects exercised unlawful authority when they beat up supporters using unnecessary force at the Busabala-Najjanankumbi junction  along Entebbe road and Kalerwe market.

Among those who appeared before the disciplinary court include constables Osula Kato, Willy Kalyango, Benard Muhangi , Moses Agaba and Robert Wamala and Dan Tandeka- a crime preventer.

deputy police spokesperson Polly Namaye says that they will appear in court on 25 July 2016.
