Five arrested for defrauding pple online

Uganda Communications Commission through its security agencies arrests 5 youths aged 25 to 32 over allegations of defrauding people via computer technology.

Those arrested have been identified as Ronald Mugisha, Micheal Kateregga, David Kyambadde, Majid Seruwoza and Okiria Dixxon hailing from different suburbs of Kampala.

The Head Legal affairs at UCC Abdu-Salaam Waiswa says those arrested were also found in possession of hundreds mobile phones which are said to have been stolen over a period of two years.

Waiswa notes that the group would also defraud the unsuspecting public mainly through social media by promising their victims jobs in big corporate companies including Serena Hotel.

He says the suspects will be presented before the Utilities, Standards and Wildlife court at Buganda road to answer charges relating to Electronic Fraud and obtaining money by false pretence.

This while addressing the media at the UCC offices In Bugolobi.
