Deputy Tabliq leader released on bail

Jailed Deputy Leader of the Tabliq Muslim sect Sheikh Yahaya Ramathan Mwanjje is released on bail by the International Crimes Division of the High court.

Mwanjje has spent about 3 years on remand on charges of murder of UPDF’s Majr Muhammad Kiggundu together with his body guard at Masanafu trading in 2016.

Court considered that Sheikh Mwanjje has a fixed place of residence in  Makindye Division and Substantial Sureties who will ensure his return to court among other factors.

Justice Duncan Gaswaaga ruled that his continued detention infringes on his fundamental human rights.

He then ordered Sheikh Mwanjje to sign a non-cash bail of 20 million shillings while his 4 sureties have been each ordered to sign a non cash bond of 10m.
