Dairy traders call off strike

Dairy traders in Uganda have resolved to call off their strike after interventions by the government.
The dealers in unprocessed milk under their umbrella body Uganda National Dairy Trader’s Association had stopped their operations protesting government’s ban on the sale of raw milk.
The Association spokesperson Edward Buteera says they have resolved to call off the strike after government, through the Dairy Development Authority, pledged to engage them over the matter.
The Minister of Animal Husbandry, Bright Rwamirama, had recently advised the public to “refrain from drinking fresh or raw milk” calling it unhealthy.
