Court frees seven Kaweesi murder suspects

Nakawa Court Grade one magistrate releases seven suspects accused of killing former Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his body guard and driver.

They have been on remand since March this year when Kaweesi was gunned down at Kulambiro in Kampala District.

Magistrate Noah Sajjabi released the 7 on a non-cash bond of 50 million shillings.

The suspects filed for bail through their lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi last week who argued that they had spent six months on remand without being committed to the High court for trial.

Out of the 22 suspects that were arrested, only 8 were committed last month to the High court for trial.
