Court fines NSSF 250 million shillings

High Court in Kampala orders the National Social Security Fund to pay 200 million shillings to deputy Managing Director, Geraldine Busuulwa Ssali as damages, and pay another 50 million shillings to court as fine for contempt of court.

Justice Stephen Musota issued the order against NSSF, its board chairman Patrick Kaberenge and the Managing Director Richard Byarugaba.

This following a case Ssali filed, accusing the Board of defying an order directing them to reinstate her back to office pending determination of the main suit challenging the board’s decision to send her on forced leave.

Justice Musota stopped the NSSF Board from taking disciplinary action against the embattled deputy managing director.

However NSSF Lawyers led by Barnabas Tumusingize, say they have instructions to appeal the court ruling.
