Court dismisses minister Namuyangu’s case with costs

Court of Appeal dismissed with costs an application filed by State Minister for Local Government Jennifer Namuyangu that sought to stay an order directing her to pay her political opponent Saleh Kamba costs of the 2011 election appeal he won.

3 Justices led by Deputy Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo, dismissed  Namuyangu’s application filed in 2017, after she failed to appear in court, or her lawyers to prosecute the said application, yet they were duly served.

Namuyangu filed an election petition at Mbale High court challenging Kamba’s victory for MP Kibuku County in 2011 which she won but Kamba filed an in the Court of Appeal which he won with costs

Kamba’s lawyers had filed  a bill of costs of 200 million shillings against the Minister but she blocked it till today.

The Judges have now advised Saleh Kamba’s Lawyer to file a fresh bill of costs against Namuyangu, to be taxed by Court of Appeal.
