Chinese jailed for littering in Kampala

Two Chinese National who were caught dumping garbage from a vehicle, are remanded to Luzira prison on charges of causing a nuisance to exist, which offence contravenes the Public Health Act.

Zhang WelLin and Jia-lang both employees of New Perspective {u} Ltd and residents of William street in Kampala, appeared before City Hall court Grade one Magistrate, Erias Kakooza and denied the charges.

The two told court that what they had dumped was fewer than what was still in their vehicle.

Prosecution alleges that the accused committed the offence on 15/Dec/2014 at Kataza Railway Reserve in Nakawa Division, where they did dump garbage along the Railway, which action was dangerous to the public.

They return to court on 23/Dec next week for trial.
