Cabinet approves Uganda wildlife bill 2015

Cabinet approves the Uganda wild life bill 2015 that seeks to crack down on illegal wild life activities and also proposes tougher penalties to the perpetrators.

The commissioner conservation in the ministry of tourism Dr. Akankwasa Barigyenda confirms the development noting that they now await the 10th parliament to pass it into law

Akankwasa says penalties proposed in the bill include life imprisonment, paying fines amounting to the value of the items being smuggled, confiscating the vehicle used.

Akankwasa is optimistic this will help bring down the cases of illegal wild life trade across the country.
